PBIS

PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Strategies) is a school-wide program that promotes positive behavior and a safe learning environment. We have three school rules:

  • Be respectful

  • Be responsible

  • Be safe

We teach what being respectful, responsible and safe looks like, sounds like and feels like.  Children are "caught" making good choices and are rewarded with praise, school wide coins or classroom rewards.  These coins are saved and spent on small trinkets or special activities such as extra gym, nail painting or decorating a cookie.

If a child chooses to not follow behavioral expectations, we give friendly reminders and reteach them. If a child continues to disregard the rules they may sit away from the group and practice other ways to fix the problem. We feel it is important to communicate any behavior issues with the parents and guardians. The classroom teacher or our Principal may call home in order to inform you of the behavior, consequence and possible motivation.  We work together with families to create a responsible, respectful and safe environment.

We always welcome and encourage families to come to us with any questions, concerns, or celebrations!
